SpiritBox is a spirit box app for Android that sweeps live internet radio stations in real time, like a hardware P-SB7, with no word banks, no recorded phonemes and no speech synthesis. Every fragment is logged to its source station and second.

Why it exists
Nearly every spirit box app plays random words from a hidden sound bank and sells the result as communication; one developer admitted his was "an algorithmic random word generator". Hardware spirit boxes do something different and verifiable: they sweep real radio and let fragments through. SpiritBox does that on a phone, with internet streams instead of an FM tuner, and writes down where every fragment came from. The developer's position is that the instrument is interesting enough without faking it.
Verify it
Reviewers are encouraged to run the airplane-mode test (the app goes silent), to open a session log, and to look stations up in radio-browser.info. See Proof.

About the developer
Mario Domenech is an independent developer from Spain. SpiritBox is his first app on Google Play; he built it after researching how the P-SB7, the SB11-ANC and Frank Sumption's original box actually work, and how most apps in the category do not.
